This restaurant is one of the finest on the North Shore. It is very deceiving in size from the outside. The food is exceptional (the salmon dish in particular) and the drinks are as well. Make sure you have the chef's dessert sampler - it was awesome! Service was very attentive and the whole staff was extremely pleasant.

Finding an upscale restaurant where the owner is also the chef is not an everyday event, but such a place is the Cedar Street Restaurant. The owner-chef has impeccable credentials including culinary arts studies of Johnson and Wales College and a stint as a chef at the Greenbrier Country Club in Virginia. His attention to detail is revealed in the restful, original decor as well as superb dishes such as Cedar Plank Salmon and Rack of Lamb.

First of all, our waitress acted like we were bothering her, which made us uncomfortable. I decided to order the crabmeat casserole. What I got wasn't what I expected. It was dry, plain crabmeat (like it was just taken out of a can) in a casserole dish. I added a ton of butter to it and it was still dry. My husband ordered the prime rib and it wasn't done the way he had requested. He wasn't happy with his meal either.

From the wait staff to the food itself, there was little salvation for this restaurant. About the only shining star was the side salad which was made with fresh, crisp romaine lettuce, but our waitress did forget to bring it before our meal. My veal parmesan entree was served in a large soup bowl with the veal on top of a bed of ziti and the entire dish swimming, actually drowning in an acidic, non flavorful marinara sauce. The veal itself was a good piece, however, it was heavily breaded, covered with two slices of semi melted cheese and all the breading fell off after soaking in the marinara. My wife ordered filet mignon steak tips and although the presentation was good, the food was not. The tips lacked any real flavor.

The place is fabulous, my son and daughter shared the tuna plate for an appetizer. For the main meals some had baked haddock with crabmeat stuffing which they said was so moist - I personally had the tenderloin with broccoli and green beans. The waitress was great she remembered what everyone was drinking and brought warm hot poppy seed rolls not once but twice without even asking. The appetizer we had was stuffed mushrooms (six of them for $8 is a bit high for the quality) the breadsticks were warm but hard and not as garlic laden as I would have liked. The biggest turn off was when I went to eat my salad, I noticed my fork was filthy. My individual pizza was ok, but my husband's Chicken Parm was only a cheap frozen chicken patty. It was less than ¼-inch thick, 4 inches around, and came with about 3 ounces of overcooked pasta.

My husband and I and two friends of ours made reservations at Pagliuca's for my husband's birthday. When we arrived I gave my name and was told it would be just a few minutes and to wait outside (very busy) - well a few minutes turned into a half hour or so as we watched them take in other people that had just arrived and also watching the chef come out and beckoning his friends. We finally got seated which was very very tight quarters. In fact, every time the waitress came by to the table beside us I had to pull in (was not very comfortable). At one point the owner or host came over and was very rude and asked us if we had pushed our table in because the waitress could not get by and she could a few minutes ago - we all looked at him and said 'where could we have pushed the table'? Then he asked the people behind us if they did and they said 'no we just sat down.'

My wife and I have been dining at Capellini's in Methuen since it opened several years ago. I always order the Veal Parmigiana, being one of the largest and tastiest in town. Upon arrival we had to interrupt the hostess from talking to her boyfriend so we could be seated in a not very full restaurant. The waiter seated us next to a loud party, which we promptly asked to be moved. In the past the waitress would make a presentation of the olive oil and pour on the table with warm bread. What we got was a quick dump of oil in the same manner and care as Jiffy Lube. The waitress was pleasant and took our order promptly. We ordered the Fried Calamari, Sicilian Style which was excellent. I ordered the Veal Parmigiana, much to my surprise, the presentation was basically thrown on the plate, no parsley or some other garnish. The veal usually extends from one side of the plate to the other, what I received was shoe heel size portion.

Great food and service in an environment where you can hear your conversation. I loved the calamari which was served in a spicy balsamic coating. The rack of lamb was out of this world.

My wife and I had a gift certificate here and decided to use it last Saturday night. The restaurant was just recently renovated and looked very clean and neat. We had a nice quiet table in the back. The food was outstanding! I had a crock of French onion soup, along with the prime rib which was huge, and melted in your mouth. My wife had the Swordfish with a butternut bisque, that she loved. Our server, Linda, was always there when we needed her to be. I normally am not a fan of hotel restaurants, but I give this place an A!

The atmosphere was so nice with the fireplace going and beautiful upholstered chairs and history everywhere. Rick and Patti were our servers and what a great job they did. The dinner started with a wonderful antipasto complete with different cheeses, ham, olives, peppers and accompanied with homemade rolls. Next a piping hot soup was served via a rolling soup cart, a very nice touch! Our main entree was a great pork loin served family style with mashed potatoes and crisp green beans. We ended our very pleasant evening with a key lime pie.

Pellana, is a hidden jewel on the North Shore. The menu is extensive, on par with Bostons fine dining. We had Veal Oscar and a veal chop. Both were beautifully presented and delicious. The portions are generous, most sides will easily serve 2-3 people. Salads and desserts exceeded expectations. Their wait staff was very attentive, without being intrusive, offering helpful suggestions.

This letter is in answer to the zing on Nick and Tony's restaurant in Danvers by Cheryl of Peabody. My wife and I frequently have lunch there and think it is the best deal on the North Shore. We have always been more then satisfied with the service as well as the prices. I love veal parmigiana and think they make it as good, or better then many Italian restaurants. My wife raves about the shrimp scampi which she always orders with marinara sauce. You can publish this letter under the title 'big praise'

What fabulous food, so tastefully presented! Each of the three times we've dined here has been absolutely fantastic! We tremendously enjoyed for an appetizer, their delicious Caesar Salad or the Special Tenderloin Medallions served with asparagus and mushrooms, it was a delectable treat for the palate. The seafood and pasta dishes are extra special and their Banana Berries Foster dessert is not to be missed!

We have been there countless times and from the moment we enter, and are greeted by the friendly hostesses, our expectations have always been met, or exceeded. The wait staff there are the finest we have encountered anywhere. The service is professional and timely. The food is always superb and with generous portions. For fine cuisine and value my vote goes to the Century House.

Last Saturday I and three friends visited Kennedy's. The atmosphere was really nice, the service fast and the food was wonderful. The food was a cut above your average Irish Pub food. We had Shepherds Pie, Fish and Chips, Steak Tips, and baked seafood. Portions were great size, and foods were cooked to perfection. Nice ambience to the restaurant also. One side a Pub, the other a very nice and cozy restaurant. Would go back again, and I give a 'HUGE' praise!

Because my grandparents came from Italy, I am always looking for authentic Italian food at Italian restaurants. My husband and I found it at the Colosseum. They have the best Italian food I have ever eaten, the service is fantastic and you can ask for stuff that is not on the menu and they will make it if possible. The owner is always around and the Manager goes out of his way to see you are happy. The restaurant is clean and the food is made to order, the pasta isn’t pre-cooked and warmed when it’s ordered. |

I went to Sebastians last Thursday night on a recommendation by a friend. It’s more than exceeded his praise. The food was incredible, the portions were large and the service was great. I had the stuffed calamari over homemade linguine that was cooked to perfection, and my friend had the chicken parm over homemade penne (both entrees were $15.00).

Foods were superb, I usually start with Crab Rangoon, then Mango Chicken or Pineapple Shrimp with Pad Thai, they were beyond my expectation. The atmosphere, is really good, awesome, especially during night, dim light with light jazz, very soothing! Plus, they have some good drinks like Mai Tai, Mango Martini.

My French dip was awful, very fatty. The chicken sandwich was very dry – no flavor and all the French fries were burnt. I mentioned the problem to our server, she said the french dip is usually not fatty and I just got one that was.

Greeted with a warm, family style welcome. The surroundings are as warm and comfortable as the greeting. It was also super clean. The New England style home cooked breakfast rates a 5 out of 5. Wide variety of choices from adults and children. Prices are very reasonable and the food is plentiful.
