Overlooking Scituate Harbor, Barker’s Tavern is a romantic dining destination where the menu and service is nothing short of sensational!
Constructed in 1634 for John Williams, (part of the original dwelling is said to be one of the oldest English houses in the US). When the original owner passed away he left the house and some two hundred acres of farmland to his son, a noted sea captain and local hero of the King Philip war. It was John Williams, as military captain, who led a military company into Mount Hope and pursed King Philip to his death. There’s even an old tunnel from the basement that reaches to the beaches… at some point it was part of the freedom trail where slaves escaped towards the sea.
SIMPLE ELEGANCE
Everything from the manicured landscape to exterior siding and roof is perfectly maintained right down to the smallest of details. Once inside, the elegant beauty of heavy wooden beams and walls, along with a crackling fire transcend you back in time.
